POSCO adds 'gigasteel' processing for EVs in China's Suzhou

POSCO Holdings, the holding company of the South Korean steel giant, is advancing further into providing materials for electric vehicles in China, commissioning new facilities at its existing coil centre in Suzhou city in East China's Jiangsu province for processing 'gigasteel', a light-weight, ultra-high-strength steel suited for use in electric vehicles where weight reduction is crucial.

Hosting the new processing facilities which include a 135,000 tonnes/year coil slitter and a 1,600-tonne press is POSCO-CSPC (China Suzhou Processing Center), a coil centre POSCO inaugurated in 2003 and which to date has processed nearly 9 million tonnes of coils.
