Shougang Jingtang taps SMS Group for its new automotive CGL

Shougang Jingtang United Iron & Steel Co (Shougang Jingtang) has awarded Germany's SMS Group a contract to supply a new continuous galvanizing line (CGL) at its Caofeidian plant in North China's Hebei province. The line will add 450,000 tonnes/year of capacity, targeting high-quality galvanized sheet for the automotive sector, Mysteel Global learned from SMS Group's release.

The new CGL is designed for high-speed production, capable of processing strip thicknesses from 0.4-2.3 mm and widths between 900-1,900 mm at speeds of up to 180 meters per minute.
