South Africa's coal exports rise 1.3% in 2025

South Africa exported 71.86 million tonnes of all types of coal in 2025, up 1.3% from 70.92 million tonnes in 2024, according to the latest data from the South African Revenue Service (SARS).

In value terms, however, coal export revenues fell 16% year on year to Rand 95.37 billion ($5.98 billion), reflecting weaker global prices.
