WEEKLY: Chinese BF mills' production rises on better profits

Production among Chinese blast furnace (BF) steelmakers edged up during the past week, as the improved profit margins encouraged more mills to raise output, Mysteel's latest survey showed.

During May 8-14, the average capacity utilization rate among the 247 BF steel producers under Mysteel's tracking had increased 0.2 percentage point from the previous week to reach 89.7%, while their combined hot metal production also rose 0.2% on week to 2.39 million tonnes/day.
