Peabody reviews plans to buy Anglo American's met coal portfolio after fire

The fire late last month in the Moranbah North underground coal mine in Central Queensland has prompted US coal producer Peabody Energy Corp to reconsider its agreement with London-listed mining company Anglo American plc to buy its Australian met coal business, the St. Louis, Missouri-based miner has announced.

The Moranbah North metallurgical coal mine is one of the several Australian mines currently majority owned by Anglo American that it had announced last November it would sell to Peabody in an acquisition worth up to $3.78 billion, as Mysteel Global reported.
