The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), through its Directorate General of Minerals and Coal, has officially imposed sanctions on 190 mining companies across Indonesia.
The sanctions were stipulated in an official letter (No. T-1533/MB.07/DJB.T/2025) signed on September 18, 2025, by Director General Tri Winarno on behalf of the Minister of ESDM.
The suspensions were issued because the companies failed to provide reclamation and post-mining financial guarantees as required, despite having received three prior administrative warnings.
According to the letter, the sanctioned IUP holders are still obligated to manage, maintain, and monitor their mining concession areas, including environmental responsibilities. The suspension will be lifted automatically once companies immediately submit their reclamation plan documents and place the required guarantee for 2025.
