The Weda Bay Industrial Park has achieved significant progress in ESG and responsible supply chain development, with two additional nickel smelting companies--PT Infei Metal Industry (IFMI) and PT Westrong Metal Industry (WMI)--successfully passing the Responsible Minerals Assurance Process (RMAP) audit. This brings the total number of RMAP-certified nickel smelters within the park to four.
RMAP, a globally recognized third-party due diligence assessment initiated by the Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI), comprehensively evaluates smelters' sourcing practices, management systems, and risk controls in line with the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Mineral Supply Chains. It is widely regarded as the "gold standard" for responsible mineral procurement. IFMI and WMI underwent on-site RMAP assessments in June 2025 and received their certificates of compliance on September 29 and October 13, respectively, marking a concrete step forward in the park's commitment to ESG and sustainable supply chain development.
With RMAP certification, both companies have been included in RMI's list of compliant smelters, enhancing the transparency and credibility of their products in the global market. The certification also demonstrates their proactive approach to supply chain due diligence. As a preventive management tool, RMAP helps companies identify and mitigate supply chain risks, ensuring operations align with international standards and local regulations while supporting human rights and regional stability.
