PT Trimegah Bangun Persada Tbk (NCKL), better known as Harita Nickel, has started reporting its ferronickel exports to PT Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia (DSI), according to overseas market sources. The move coincides with the implementation of the first phase of the "single window" policy for ferroalloy exports.
Roy Arman Arfandy, CEO of PT Harita Nickel, recently revealed that the company has submitted export reports to Danantara through the designated system as required by the government. Although export activities must now be reported to the new agency, the overall export process is running smoothly. Relevant forms and applications have been in use since June 2. Export frequency depends on vessel schedules, and the company's operations team has not encountered any material issues.
Roy also disclosed that the company's ferronickel export capacity is twice that of the nickel products from its HPAL smelter. Harita Nickel produces ferronickel using the RKEF process, with a total capacity of 120,000 tonnes of nickel per year (measured as nickel content in ferronickel). Its HPAL smelter also has a capacity of 120,000 tonnes of nickel per year, producing MHP. Roy expressed full support for the policy requiring ferronickel exports to go through Danantara, saying it helps strengthen Indonesia's export governance and enables more effective control.
Under the government's plan, PT Danantara Sumber Daya Indonesia (DSI) will act as the single export manager for strategic natural resources. The three commodities covered in the first phase are crude palm oil, coal, and ferroalloys, with ferronickel included under the ferroalloy category. Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto confirmed on May 22 that the single export system is being rolled out in phases starting June 1. Exporters must ship the relevant commodities through PT DSI from September 1, with full enforcement beginning January 1, 2027. Airlangga emphasized that the policy has not been delayed, has been launched on schedule, and will be implemented progressively in accordance with the defined phases.
According to a clarification from the Ministry of Trade, the ferronickel products covered by the policy fall under HS code 7202.60.00. This includes ferronickel in blocks or ingots with a nickel content of not less than 8%; ferronickel pieces, granules, and sponges with a nickel content of not less than 4%; and similar products with a nickel content between 2% and 4% and an iron content of not less than 75%. Exporters are also required to provide an inspection report or corresponding customs supplementary documents.
