China's imports of ternary cathode materials amounted to 8,360 tonnes in May 2026, representing a month-on-month decrease of 1,860 tonnes or 18.2%, and a year-on-year increase of 3,027 tonnes or 56.8%, according to data from the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China. Among these, imports of lithium nickel-cobalt-manganese oxide (NCM-type) reached 7,099 tonnes, while imports of lithium nickel-cobalt-aluminum oxide (NCA-type) stood at 1,260 tonnes.
From January to May 2026, China's cumulative imports of cathode materials totaled 43,695 tonnes, up 86.4% YoY.
