Aiko Solar plans 17 GW of existing Chinese cell capacity conversions to ABC technology across Yiwu, Chuzhou and Tianjin. The three projects represent a capex assessment of Yuan 2.815 billion, including Yuan 1.15 billion for the 6 GW Tianjin conversion, which is due to start in the fourth quarter and ramp from the third quarter of 2027. Unused TOPCon upgrades have been dropped in favour of ABC. The shift raises demand for wet-processing and metallisation equipment while adding to concern about future BC oversupply.
