China's import volume of ternary cathode materials reached 10,451 tonnes in March 2026, an increase of 3,234 tonnes or 44.8% month-on-month, and a rise of 5,947 tonnes or 132.0% year-on-year, according to data from the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China. Among this, imports of lithium nickel-cobalt-manganese oxide (NCM-type) stood at 8,892 tonnes, while imports of lithium nickel-cobalt-aluminum oxide (NCA-type) reached 1,560 tonnes.
During the first three months of 2026 (January–March), China's cumulative imports of cathode materials totaled 25,116 tonnes, representing an increase of 110.1% YoY.
