EU sets 2026 stainless steel import quotas

The European Union has published country-specific stainless steel import quotas for 2026 under Implementing Regulation (EU) 2026/1457, introducing a new safeguard framework to limit duty-free steel imports into the bloc.

For hot-rolled sheets and strips, Indonesia secured the largest quota at 35,843 tonnes, followed by India at 26,019 tonnes, South Korea at 20,735 tonnes, Taiwan at 19,984 tonnes, Türkiye at 13,727 tonnes, and the Chinese mainland at 9,515 tonnes. In cold-rolled sheets and strips, South Korea leads with 101,884 tonnes, ahead of
